Supported Programs

$37,000 Raised for Oilfield Families Health, Education and Welfare Programs in just 2 events! Thank You!

The Oil and Gas Exploration and Production Industry has historically been a very cyclical industry that fatigues even the best of equipment and personnel. If we as an industry do not invest in health, education and welfare programs, we will lose our most valuable assets…… our hard working people.

Oilfield Appreciation Days support Oilfield Worker Health, Education and Welfare efforts, locally and abroad..

Mission:

Oilfield Appreciation Days are held through-out the year in areas with high concentrations of oilfield families. These events will serve as fundraisers that will in turn be used to benefit a variety of health, education and welfare programs and charities that stay in direct contact with oilfield workers and their families.

Oilfield Helping Hands
Oilfield Helping Hands is a non-profit charitable organization comprised of volunteers devoted to providing financial assistance to oilfield workers in financial crisis who live and or work in Houston, Texas and the surrounding counties. Our service area will include the following core counties: Harris, Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Galveston, Liberty, Montgomery and Waller, but will extend to other surrounding counties for local oilfield workers living in those areas who commute to Houston for their work. To be successful, OHH must focus on the needs of our recipients. We will continually work in the most economical fashion to maximize the amount of monies available for distribution to our recipients each year.

In the event of a regional natural or man-made disaster within the continental United States of America, OHH will work with other E&P industry professional organizations to provide financial assistance to those oilfield workers affected by such events. This will be accomplished through joint fund-raising events. Distribution of funds will be accomplished through a joint industry committee to assist affected workers and their families.

The means by which we will maximize our financial contributions to recipients is to always:

  • Seek volunteer assistance from the oilfield community
  • Seek donations of product, services and manpower
  • Support a frugal work culture
  • Recognize our responsibility to help fellow workers
  • Continually apply new ideas to generate revenue for OHH
  • Maintain integrity in our operations and respect for the people we serve
  • Recognize, but for the grace of God, we could ourselves be in a crisis situation

By virtue of our mission and values, Oilfield Helping Hands will be a premier charitable organization for the oilfield community. OHH expects to successfully deliver financial assistance to our fellow workers in financial crisis.

We can only accomplish this with the efforts and participation of our core group. Therefore, we must commit our group to promote a climate of enthusiasm, teamwork and volunteerism.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Oilfield Christian Fellowship

In 1991, a drilling engineer Jim Teague, and a salesman, John Bird, decided to host a breakfast in order to get to know other Christian's in the oil industry. Only advertised by word of mouth, remarkably 46 men and women showed up at 6 AM for the first meeting! Everyone enjoyed the camaraderie so much they decided to meet monthly for lunch, thus the Oilfield Christian Fellowship was founded and within a few months, as many as 250 were attending.
Today OCF luncheons and dinners are held in Canada, Colorado, Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana, Wyoming, and Pennsylvania, with more chapters in the making. Here speakers share how they came to know Christ and what He is doing in their lives. Because of this, thousands of men and women have been encouraged, lives have changed and many have accepted Christ for the first time.
But the OCF has become much more...
In the summer of 2000 a Bible ministry was begun whereby oilfield employees would be supplied with Bibles in the language of the country where they were sent. To date over 120,000 Bibles have been hand carried to 46 countries, in 22 languages. In September of 2003 John was inspired to create a custom made oilfield Bible which he named; God's Word for the Oil Patch, Fuel for the Soul. Twelve months later he and Bible supply chairman and drilling engineer Mike Chaffin had designed the first of its kind Bible specifically for the oil industry. Along with the two NIV Testaments, it contains 46 pages of testimonies and commentary from president to rig hands.("In his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps.” PR 16:9 ) The scripture, "As iron sharpens Iron, so one man sharpens another.” Proverbs 27:17 is more than fitting for the various ministries of the OCF in general and each chapter. From facilitating the first Oilfield Chapel in Big Piney, Wyoming , providing a new truck and trailer to take God's Word and love into the fields around Wamsutter, Wyoming each day, intern appreciation luncheons, campus leadership forums, to the Oklahoma City chapter raising a quarter of a million dollars for the City Rescue Mission, God has truly inspired and used the OCF. A monthly newsletter is sent to nearly 4000 and each year a prayer breakfast is held in Houston during an oil conference, with as many as 900 in attendance and other breakfasts are being held around the country as well. To God be the glory and honor!

Did you know?

54% of the children picked up by Child & Family Protective Services in the Permian Basin are sent out of our region due to a severe shortage of families willing to provide that foster care.

The Initiative

The "ONE MORE HOME" Initiative is an initiative by pastors and agencies in our community to call the body of Christ to step up and respond to this significant need in the community by releasing 200 families into the foster system in the next 18-24 months beginning on Jan 15th, 2012.
