The North Texas Sporting Clay Classic was a Huge Success! Thank You!

When great people and great weather come together in the same place at the same time, great things happen!

That was the case this past Friday during the Oilfield Appreciation,  Barnett Shale - North Texas Sporting Clay Classic that was held at Alpine Shooting Range in Fort Worth.

The courses were full and big smiles were seen everywhere. The Pure Adventure guys were at it again with side games like Paintball Flurry, Apple Archery, Onion Sling Shot and the crazy fruit launching Air Cannon that sent some of those limes into the stratosphere.

High overall team score on the Red Course went to Harold Fisher - 72, Alan Smith - 83, Gene Hearne - 86, Bud Romine - 78 and David Ivie - 82 of Team JO COX with a combined score of 401.

High overall team score on the Black Course went to Don Richey - 91, David Richey - 95, Joe Richey 83, Dale Breeden - 82 and Jason Brown - 85 of Team TRUE DIRECTIONAL SERVICES with a combined score of 436.

High overall individual on the Red Course was Elman Medoff with a 93.

High overall individual on the Black Course was a tie between Blake Elms and David Richey both with a very nice 95.

A huge Thank You to all of our Sponsors and Volunteers that came together and created this wonderful event.

Congratulations to those that walked away with the many guns, gear and outstanding hunting and fishing trips! We enjoy giving them away.

NEXT UP.

    Oilfield Joke: Two Elderly Oilmen...

Two very elderly oilmen were out driving in a large car. As they were cruising along they came to an intersection. The stoplight was red but they just went on through. The oilman in the passenger seat thought to himself "I must be losing it, I could have sworn we just went through a red light."

After a few more minutes they came to another intersection and the light was red again and again they went right though. This time the oilman in the passenger seat was almost sure that the light had been red but was really concerned that he was losing it. He was getting nervous and decided to pay very close attention to the road and the next intersection to see what was going on.

At the next intersection, sure enough, the light was definitely red and they went right through and he turned to the other oilman and said, "FRED! Did you know we just ran through three red lights in a row! You could have killed us!"

Fred turned to him and said, "Oh, am I driving?"

Oilfield Joke: Well Service Contractor's Woes...

The Department of Employment, Division of Labor Standards received a complaint that Sam,  the owner of Sam's Well Service, was not paying proper wages to his help and sent an agent out to investigate him.

In a demanding tone, the agent said, "I need a list of your employees and how much you pay them."

Sam replied, "Well, there's two hired hands I pay $1000 a week plus free room and board."

"Then there's the mentally challenged guy. He works about 18 hours every day and does about 90% of all the work around here.  He makes about $10 per week and pays his own room and board.  I do buy him a bottle of bourbon every Saturday night so he can cope with life and he gets to sleep with my wife occasionally."

Sensing an opportunity to assess a big fine, the agent said, "That's the guy I want to talk to... The mentally challenged one."

Sam answered, "Well then, That would be Me."

Oilfield Joke: Progress in the Patch

A SALESMAN starts out knowing a great deal about one thing and goes on learning more and more about less and less, until he knows practically everything about nothing.

An ENGINEER starts out knowing a little about many things and goes out learning less and less about more and more, until he knows practically nothing about everything

TOOLPUSHERS and COMPANY MEN start out knowing everything about everything, but end up knowing nothing about nothing because of their association with SALESMEN and ENGINEERS.

DRILLERS, on the other hand, know everything about everything and end up knowing everything 'bout everything due to their total disregard of advice given by SALESMEN, ENGINEERS, TOOLPUSHERS and COMPANY MEN

Last Friday's Event was a success!

Over 77,000 rounds (52,200 Shotgun and 24,800 Paintball)  were fired by 522 shooters last Friday at the 2nd Annual Oilfield Appreciation Eagle Ford - South Texas Sporting Clay Classic at the National Shooting Complex in San Antonio Texas. See Shooter Results Here.

Everyone had big smiles as the competition, food, fun and weather could not have been any better! Tens of thousands of dollars worth of guns and gear were given away along with over $50,000 worth of hunting and fishing trips. Funds were raised for several Oilfield Charities.

The positive comments keep coming in from companies that brought their customers to this Oilfield Appreciation Event.

Thank you to ALL of the Sponsors, Shooters and Volunteers that helped to make this our best event to date!

We look forward to doing it again next month!

Oilfield Joke: There Could Be Worse Things in Life...

The oilman was passing by his daughter's bedroom and was astonished to see the bed was nicely made and everything was picked up.

Then, he saw an envelope, propped up prominently on the pillow.

          It was addressed, 'Dad'.

With the worst premonition, he opened the envelope and read the letter, with trembling hands:

"Dear, Dad. It is with great regret and sorrow that I'm writing you. I had to elope with my new boyfriend, because I wanted to avoid a scene with you and Mom. I've been finding real passion with Bubba. He is so nice, but I knew you would not approve of him because of all his piercing's, tattoos, his Motorcycle clothes, and because he is so much older than I am. But it's not only the passion, Dad. I am pregnant.

Bubba said that we will be very happy. He owns a trailer in the woods, and has a stack of firewood for the whole winter. We share a dream of having many more children. Bubba has opened my eyes to the fact that marijuana doesn't really hurt anyone. We'll be growing it for ourselves and trading it with the other people in the commune for all the cocaine and ecstasy we want. In the meantime, we'll pray that science will find a cure for AIDS so that Bubba can get better. He sure deserves it! Don't worry Dad, I'm 15, and I know how to take care of myself. Someday, I'm sure we'll be back to visit so you can get to know your many grandchildren.

          Love, your daughter, Bethany.

P.S. Dad, none of the above is true. I'm over at Jennifer's house. I just wanted to remind you that there are worse things in life than my report card that's on the kitchen table. Please call when it is safe for me to come home!"

            Oilfield Joke: Life Explained...

On the first day, God created the dog and said: "Sit all day by the door of your house, drool, and bark at anyone who comes in or walks past. For this, I will give you a life span of twenty years."

The dog said: "That's a long time to be barking. How about only ten years and I'll give you back the other ten?"

            So God agreed.

On the second day, God created the monkey and said: "Entertain people, do tricks, and make them laugh. For this, I'll give you a twenty-year lifespan."

The monkey said: "Monkey tricks for twenty years? That's a pretty long time to perform. How about I give you back ten like the dog did?"

            And God agreed.

On the third day, God created the cow and said: "You must go into the field with the farmer all day long and suffer under the sun, have calves and give milk to support the farmer's family. For this, I will give you a life span of sixty years."

The cow said: "That's kind of a tough life you want me to live for sixty years. How about twenty and I'll give back the other forty?"

            And God agreed again.

On the fourth day, God created man and said: "Eat, sleep, play, marry and enjoy your life. For this, I'll give you twenty years."

But man said: "Only twenty years? Could you possibly give me my twenty, the forty the cow gave back, the ten the monkey gave back, and the ten the dog gave back; that makes eighty, okay?"

"Okay," said God, "You asked for it."

So that is why for our first twenty years we eat, sleep, play and enjoy ourselves.

For the next forty years we slave in the sun to support our family.

For the next ten years we do monkey tricks to entertain the grandchildren.

And for the last ten years we sit on the front porch, drool, and bark at everyone.

Life has now been explained to you.

There is no need to thank me for this valuable information. I'm just doing it as a public service.

Oilfield Joke: An Oilman Buys Some Cattle...

A West Texas oilman wanted to try his hand at buying and selling cattle. At a livestock sale he bought 100 head of steers that averaged right at $500 per head.

Part of the deal was that the rancher would haul them to the Oilman’s pens the next day.

The rancher delivered the cattle and told the Oilman, “I’ve got some bad news.  There’s only 98 head on the truck.  Two head got struck by lightning last night.”

After a moment of deep thought, the Oilman said, “If I'm going to come out on this deal, I'm going to have make those dead steers bring something.  Would you haul them over here so I can raffle them off ?”

Incredulous, the rancher said, “You can’t raffle off dead steers.”

“Sure I can… I just won’t tell anyone they’re dead,” said the oilman.

A month later, the rancher saw the oilman and asked, “What happened with the dead steers?"

“Just like I said… I raffled them off.  I sold 100 tickets for $20 each and made $930 on the deal,” smiled the oilman.

“Didn’t anyone complain?” asked the rancher.

“Just the guy who won the raffle…  So I gave him his money back plus $50 for his trouble,” said the oilman.
